Whats an example of where active transport is used

A

Root hair cells have a protrusion- this helps to absorb water and minerals

The problem is the minerals plants need - mg for chlorophyll and nitrates for proteins- are at a higher concentration inside the cell than they are outside in the soil

Therefore cannot be absorbed by diffusion

They need to be absorbed by active transport
