What does incarnation mean?
The concept of God as man - Jesus
What does God incarnate mean in terms of Jesus?
He was God as man but not affected by original sin and therefore the perfect example of man
Jesus was able to perform miracles
Being incarnate meant that Jesus was able to mend the broken relationship between God and people
What was the crucifixion?
Jesus’s death on the cross
Shows God can understand suffering as he suffered on the cross in order to reestablish God’s relationship with people
What was the resurrection?
Jesus’s return from the dead
Shows God’s power over death
Gives hope to Christians that the too will be raised from the dead and be in heaven for eternity
What is the ascension?
Jesus’s return to heaven after the resurrection
Some Christians see this as a literal act, some see it as symbolic
Represents the success of good over evil
Protestant Christians have an empty cross to symbolise Jesus rising from the dead
