1.11 Systems analysis Flashcards
What is a feasibility study?
A study that analyses all of a project’s features to discover if the project is likely to be successful
What are the main 5 areas of a feasibility study and a brief description of each?
TELOS
1) Technical: can it be built?
2) Economical: Costs and benefits
3) Legal: helps decide whether the project will be able to comply with all the laws that may affect it, in the countries where it will be released
4) Operational: will it work?
5) Scheduling: can it be implemented within a given timescale?
What are the 5 stages of investigation and analysis?
1) Consulting documentation to investigate current data storage requirements or data flow
2) Questionnaire on staff/ customers for a widespread investigation
3) Interviewing staff / customers / employees is suitable when an analyst requires a lot of information from a small number of people
4) Observing the current system in practice is suitable for gathering information first-hand instead of having to rely on others
5) Research similar systems using desk-based research
Consulting, Questionnaire, Interviewing, Observation, Research
What is an expert system (knowledge based)?
An AI integrated system that usually asked the user a series of questions in order to try and produce a correct answer. For example the ‘Akinator’ or NHS’s virtual GP that asked users about symptoms
