- Initial adjustment (intaglio surfaces and periphery, occlusion)

- Follow-up adjustments/maintenance

Steps for initial adjustment
A
- Try to seat RPD (watch for acrylic flange undercuts)
- PIP intaglio, moisten surface with Mizzy spray
- Place RPD, but do not let patient bite down
- Apply firm vertical pressure with fingers
- Remove and inspect for thinned/rubbed areas
- Make minimal adjustments with small rounded acrylic bur for small access or pear shape acrylic bur for larger areas
- Repeat PIP until desired PIP pattern

Class I or II - Clinical remount

A
- Sore spot development
- May have feeling of fullness
- Salivary activity increased
- May have initial change in speech
- Potential for tooth soreness
- RPD may slightly loosen
- Gagging

A
- If not too severe, pt may adapt
- May have overextended borders
- May be insufficient polish
- May be excessive salary flow
- Light contact in post dam area

Home care instructions
A
- Do not drop RPD
- Rinse under running water after eating & rinse mouth
- Remove and brush at end of day over basin of water (w/ non-abrasive dentrifice)
- Home denture cleaning solutions is okay (no bleach)
- Do not wear RPD at night
- Keep in container with water
- Review hygiene (to maintain remaining teeth)
- Don’t place in napkin when eating
- Keep out of reach of dogs
