1.1-Points, Lines& Planes Flashcards
Undefined terms
Most words or terms used in geometry are defined but some concepts are so basic that it is impossible to write a definition that does not refer to the term being defined. These are called UNDEFINED TERMS
Endpoint
Is a point at an end of a segment or the starting point of a ray.
Ray
Is a part of a line that starts at an endpoint and extends forever in one direction
Line Segment
is parts of a lime consisting of two endpoints and all points between them.
Distance
between two points is a measure of the length of the shortest line Segment that would connect them.
Collinear
if they lie on the same line
Coplanar
if they lie in the same plane
Postulate
is a statement that is accepted as true without proof.
Congruent
and you can write a congruence statement using the symbol
Bisect
a figure is to divide it into two congruent parts
Midpoint
of a segment is the point that bisects the segment into two congruent segments
point
names a location
line
names a straight path of points in a plane
plane
is a flat surface
