1.1 Points Lines and Planes Flashcards
Not fail
Concepts that are so basic it is impossible to write a definition that does not refer to the term being defined.
Undefined Terms
Names a location and has no dimension.
Point
Names a straight path of points in a plane, has no width or thickness, and continues forever in one dimension.
Line
A flat surface that has no thickness and extends forever in two dimensions.
Plane
A point at the end of a segment of the starting point of a ray.
Endpoint
A part of a line that starts at an endpoint and extends forever in one direction.
Ray
A part of a line consisting of two endpoints and all points between them.
Line Segment
A measure of length between two points and the shortest line segment that would connect them. Not defined until a unit of measurement has been chosen.
Distance
Points that lie on the same line.
Col-linear
Points and lines that lie in the same place.
Co-planar
A statement that is accepted as true without proof.
Postulate
Two segments that have the same length and dimensions.
Congruent
Dividing a figure into two congruent parts.
Bisect
The point of a segment that bisects the segment into two congruent segments.
Midpoint
