• near point stress
• orbital mass
• eyelid mass
• sinusitis
• neuralgia
• H zoster

Perform retropulsion on the eyes of the patient.

1. instruct patient to close his eyes
2. place forefingers on both closed lids
3. press toward back of head evenly
4. compare the resistance of OD to that of OS
5. record: symmetry, or state which eye showed greater resistance
