What is civics
Branch of politics that focuses on the role of governments and citizens and how citizens get involved in political processes and tack action on important issues
What does civics involve?

Why do you have to take civics?

Citizen
Person by choice or birth who is a member of a nation who meets the citizenship requirements and is an official member of a country
Citizenship
Membership in a community and defines person legal rights and responsibilities
Rights
Common entitlements given to all citizens that are protected by law
Freedom
Having no constraints to conduct your actions
Responsibilities
Not set by law but are duties citizens agree to fulfill
Policies
The process that’s used to make civil decisions
Government
Organization that makes decisions and enforces laws and protects it’s citizens
Constitution
Set of rules and define political principles and responsibilities of a state, nation, or provence
Responsibilities of citizenship
Obey laws
Vote in the federal elections
Eliminate discrimination and injustice
Respect others rights
Why is the oath important to new Canadians
They need to swear to the oath to become a Canadian citizen
