list the different ways that energy can be transferred.
Mechanically
Electrically
Through heating
Via infrared radiation
Via light or sound waves
when you burn fuel, where is energy transferred from and to?
energy is transferred from the fuel’s chemical energy store to the thermal energy store of the surroundings.
what energy is stored inside of a battery?
chemical.
energy is transferred to a light bulb electrically, how is energy transferred away from a light bulb?
via light & by heating.
as an object falls where is energy transferred from and to?
energy is transferred from its gravitational potential energy store, to its kinetic energy store.
what do we mean by magnetic energy store?
the energy stored when repelling magnetic poles are pushed closer together, or when attracting magnetic poles are pushed further apart
what do we mean by thermal energy store (internal energy store)
refers to how much energy a substance has, it includes two stores of energy:
1.the kinetic energy store
2.the potential energy store
what do we mean by chemical energy store?
the energy stored in chemical bonds, such as those between atoms.
what do we mean by kinetic energy store?
the energy an object posses due to its motion.
what do we mean by gravitational potential energy store?
the energy an object has due to its height in a gravitational field.
what do we mean by electrostatic energy store?
the energy stored when repelling charges have been moved closer together or when attracting charges have been pulled further apart.
what do we mean by elastic potential energy store?
the energy stored when an object is stretched or squashed
what do we mean by nuclear energy store?
the energy stored in the nucleus of an atom.
