What is adware?
Software that automatically displays or downloads advertising material when a user is online.
What is a backdoor?
A mechanism for gaining access to a computer that bypasses or subverts the normal method of authentication.
What is a RAT?
A specialized trojan that specifically aims to provide an attacker with unauthorized access to or control of a target computer.
What is a keylogger?
A hardware device or software application that recognizes and records every keystroke made by a user.
What is crypto-malware?
A form of ransomware that uses encryption to render the victim’s data inaccessible.
What is a bot?
Systems that can be controlled by outside sources.
What is spyware?
Unwanted software that infiltrates your computer, stealing your internet usage data and sensitive information.
What is a trojan?
Malicious software disguised as something else, does not replicate.
What is a rootkit?
A malicious software that allows an unauthorized user to have privileged access to a computer to restricted areas of its software.
What is a logic bomb?
Malicious code that triggers based on certain conditions being met.
What is a virus?
Infects systems and spread copies of themselves. Hides within legitimate application code.
What are worms?
Self-replicating forms of other types of malicious code. Does not require host interaction.
What is metamorphic malware?
Malware changes itself each iteration retaining the same functionality.
What is an armored virus?
Virus specifically designed to prevent its source code from being analyzed. It tricks the antivirus into believing its location is somewhere other than where it really is.
What is polymorphic malware?
Malware that constantly changes its identifiable features in order to evade detection.
