What is the 11th Amendment?
Citizens cannot sue States in Federal Court.
(I remember it as 11 has a 1 and there is only one type of people mentioned; citizens)
What is the 12th Amendment?
Members of the Electoral College cast separate votes for the President and Vice President.
(I remember the 2 in twelve as that electoral college is made up from 2 words)
What is the 13th Amendment?
Abolished Slavery
What is the 14th Amendment?
Requires that States give all People equal protection under the law; gave citizenship to freed Slaves
(I remember it as the 4 and I said that protection has 4 syllables, which it doesn’t)
What is the 15th Amendment?
Voting Rights cannot be denied to any Citizen based on race, color, or former status as a Slave.
(I remember it by 5 and slave has 5 letters)
What is the 16th Amendment?
Authorizes the Income Tax.
(I remember it as income is spelled with 6 letters)
What is the 17th Amendment?
Establishes direct election of U.S senators.
(I remember it has that there is 17 senators, which is a lie, but it works so)
What is the 18th Amendment?
Prohibited the manufacturing, importing, and exporting of Alcoholic Beverages.
What is the 19th Amendment?
Prohibits the Federal Government and States from forbidding any Citizen the right to vote based on sex.
Simplified = allows everyone the right to vote
What is the 20th Amendment?
Changes the details of Congressional and Presidential terms and Presidential succession.
( I remember it as 0 is sometimes called o and if a President succeeds people will say oh)
What is the 21th Amendment?
Repeals the 18th Amendment.
What is the 22th Amendment?
Limits the President to 2 terms.
(I remember it as 2 for 2 terms)
What is the 23th Amendment?
Grants Washington, D.C. Presidential Electors.
(I remember it as 3 for Washington, D, and C)
What is the 24th Amendment?
Prohibits the requirement of a payment (a poll tax) as a qualification for voting.
Simple Version - Gets rid of poll tax
(I remember it as 4 and their is 4 letters in the word poll)
What is the 25th Amendment?
Provides for replacement of the Vice President.
(I remember it by saying vice is spelled with 5 letters, which obviously is also not true)
