10pt subset Flashcards
I check my traffic side mirror prior to entering the intersection for traffic in the lane next to my vehicle that may turn in front of me.
Clearing Intersections
As I proceed through the intersection I check my opposite mirror to ensure I cleared the intersection of hazards
Clearing Intersections
The space I leave in front of my vehicle is proportionate to the size of my vehicle. The longer my vehicle, the larger the space.
When stopped in traffic.
This will create a space cushion and allow me to bring my eyes up to the driving scene ahead
Count one-two-three after vehicle ahead has started to move.
This is my following distance in seconds and gives me time to act to any changes ahead
4-6 second following time for speeds up to 30 mph, 6-8 second for speeds over 30 mph
That is my eye lead time in seconds, and is a maintained depth of vision
8-12 seconds eye lead time
Close enough to be heard, far away enough to evade
Scan Steering Wheels
Road, load, weather and speed
Stale Green Lights
I do not deactivate my turn signal until my vehicle is fully in the lane I am occupying
Pulling from curb
