How many Elements of the Marine Corps Mission are there?

Element 1
Provide the FMF with combined arms and air components for service in the U.S. Fleet for seizure and defense of advanced naval bases for the conduct of such landing operations as may be essential to the execution of a naval campaign.
Element 2
Provide detachments and organizations for service on armed vessels of the Navy and security detachments for protection of naval property on naval stations and bases.
Element 3
Develop in coordination with A, N, and AF the doctrine, tactics, techniques, and equipment employed by landing forces in amphibious operations.
Element 4
Provide Marine forces for airborne operations in coordination with A, N, and AF according to the doctrine established by the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Element 5
Develop in coordination with A, N, and AF the doctrine, procedures, and equipment for airborne operations.
Element 6
Expand peacetime components to meet wartime needs, according to the Joint mobilization plans.
Element 7
Perform such duties as the President may direct.
What is the Service Chain.
President, Sec. of State, SECNAV, Commandant of the MC.
What is the Operational Chain.
President, Sec. of State, directly to commanders of combatant commands.
Describe MARFOR.
Organized as MAGTFs and are either employed as part of the Naval Expeditionary Forces or separately, as part of larger joint or combined forces.
Describe MCSF.
Include approx. 3400 Marines who protect key naval instillations and facilities. These forces include Marine Barracks and Marine Security Forces Companies in CONUS and abroad, as well as detachments afloat.
Describe Marine Security Guard.
Provide detachments at embassies and consulates around the globe. Marines are currently assigned to 121 diplomatic posts in 115 countries.
Describe HQMC.
Consists of the CMC and those staff agencies that advise and assist the CMC in discharging those responsibilities prescribed by the law and higher authority.
The CMC is directly responsible to the SECNAV for the administration, discipline, internal organization, training, requirements, efficiency and readiness of the Marine Corps.
Describe a MAGTF.
Marine Corps’ principle organization for all missions across the range of military operations, from humanitarian assistance, to peacekeeping, to intense combat and can deploy immediately around the world.
Describe a Command Element.
The headquarters of a MAGTF. Task oriented to provide command and control capabilities necessary for effective planning, direction, and execution of operations.
