Why is the baptism of babies important?
- cleanses child of original sin, so if the child dies baptism has already washed away original sin and the child is reunited with God
- baptism gives protection and security to the child in their next life
- gives child a means of support if anything happens to their parents, they now have their Godparents
- parents and Godparents promise before God to provide a Christian upbringing for their child

- basis of a Christian life, without it you cannot receive the sacraments

-priest pours water on child and blesses them with the oil of chrism, this is the blessing and the baptism
Why is confirmation important?
- the completion of baptism and we start our mission and journey of faith to do God’s work
- gain the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which guide us in life to do good
- gain a relationship with your sponsor who helps guide and support us, we can have a spiritual bond
- confirmation name gives Catholic’s something to aspire for in their faith, role model
Why is confirmation described as ‘transformative’?
- we are transformed into people who know God better and can do his work
- we go from learning about God to doing his work
What is the process of reconciliation?
- repent/contrition (feel or express remorse)
- confess to priest
- penance to make up for sins committed
- forgiveness through absolution given by priest, God works through the priest (forgiving anyone who is truly sorry)
- reconciliation with God, relationship with God is repaired
What is the seal of confession?
-priest’s oath not to share anything that has been heard in confession
Why do Catholics go to confession?
- sin is not personal, when we sin we hurt someone
- therefore we need to say sorry in a public way, even if what we’ve done is kept secret
- doing this makes us feel as if we have reconciled with everyone we’ve hurt
- the priest forgives our sins in God’s name
- mends our relationship with God, makes us happy and helps us in hard times

Why is the Anointing of the sick important?
- Catholics believe God will help them with their sickness
- comforts the dying
- leads to heaven

- sets us apart from on another
- prepares us for something
What else happens during the anointing of the sick and why?
- Confession will help lead to salvation
- Holy Communion because it helps them feel like Christ is present in the body and blood received. That Christ is with them in this difficult time
What is the process of the Anointing of the sick and why is important?
- prayer of healing is significant because it is said by the priest and it gives the person strength to fight against illness, or a least to be free from fear
- the special oil used to anoint the sick person is used as a sign of strength and courage God gives them to face the suffering or even their death
