Where do international rules of the road apply?
Apply to all vessels on the high seas, and all waters connected navigable by seagoing vessels.
Where do inland rules of the road apply?
Inland waters of the US & vessels in the Canadian waters of the Great Lakes where there is no conflict with Canadian law.
How does wind effect small boats?
Vessel will make leeway ( drift downward)
Speed proportional to wind velocity and amount of sail area.
Mean low water?
Measured over a 19yr period
Average height of all low tide levels
Explain deviation of a compass?
Compass deflected from magnetic meridian because of effects of ships iron
What is PIM?
Plan of intended movement
Must be done prior to getting underway
Laid out every 4 hours GMT.
