What does celibacy mean?
Living without engaging in any sexual activity.
What does holy mean?
Relating to God, sacred.
What does laity mean?
All the people of the church who are not chosen to be bishops, prests or deacons.
What does magisterium mean?
The pope and the bishops interpreting the bible and tradition for Roman Catholics today.
What does nonconformist churches mean?
Protestant Christians separated from the Church of England.
What does ordination mean?
Making someone a priest, bishop or deacon by the sacrament of holy orders.
What does Orthodox Church mean?
National churches which are in union with the patriarch of Constantinople.
