10.17 Regulatory Genes and Development Flashcards
1
Q
What are Genes?
A
regions of DNA that are transcribed and transcribed into protein or translated involved in these processes.
2
Q
Exons
A
- Part of final mRNA strand.
- Get directly translated and determine sequence of amino acids in proteins.
3
Q
Introns
A
- Untranslated portions of DNA and RNA between exons.
- Removed when making final mRNA.
4
Q
What is reverse transcription?
A
- Transfer of information from RNA back into DNA. Used by retro-viruses such as HIV.
5
Q
RNA replication
A
Like DNA, RNA can be replicated under the correct enzymes and raw ingredients.
