Marines land in France and participate in 8 operations and awarded French Fourragere still worn by members of the 5th and 6th Marines.

Marine Corps reorganized into the Fleet Marine Force
MC Equipment Board established at Quantico, VA devoting long hours to testing and developing materials for landing Ops and Expeditionary service.
1965
Marines land in South Vietnam and conduct various large-scale offensive operations.
Land in Dominican Republic to evacuate American citizens in response to a coup.
1982
Marines deployed to Lebanon as part of multinational peacekeeping force. “Force of Readiness”
23 Oct 1983, suicide truck bomb killed 241 Americans and wounded 70. Last Marine withdrew in July 1984
1991
Operation Desert Storm launched after Iraqi government refused to comply with UN resolutions.
Air phase commenced January 1991
Bombings failed, Marine ground forces swept Kuwait and liberated the country.
September 11, 2001
Operation Enduring Freedom. U.S. and British forces begin airstrikes on 7 October in Afghanistan after the Taliban refused to hand over Osama Bin Laden, leader of al-Qaida terrorist organization.
2003
Operation Iraqi Freedom. U.S. invaded Iraq after Dictator Saddam Hussein and sons refuse to surrender Iraq.
20 Mar 2003 Marines from I MEF crossed Kuwait border into southern Iraq in first push to Baghdad.
5 Apr 2003 Marines enter Baghdad secure major roads leading out of the capital.
