The JSO is divided into what Six Components
Administration, Department of Patrol & Enforcement, Department of Investigations & Homeland Security, Department of Police Services, Department of Personnel & Professional Standards , Department of Corrections
Each Department is under the command of a director , is further subdivided and commanded according to the following hierarchy
Division - Chief
Section - Assistant Chief
Unit - Commanding Officer ( lieutenant or Civilian Manager )
Squad / Team - Supervisor ( sergeant or Civilian Supervisor)
Which Units Report Directly to the Undersheriff
Integrity & Special Investigations Unit
Legal Assistance Unit
Responsible for performing the Patrol function by responding to calls for service proactively inspecting areas to suppress criminal activities enforcing traffic laws and fostering partnerships with citizens using the principles of community oriented policing. The patrol division is geographically partitioned into six sections also referred to as zones which are under the command of an assistant chief
Patrol Division
Responsible for supporting the patrol function through the use of specialized patrol units and the implementation of community engagement programs designed to establish partnerships with the community and prevent crime
Patrol Support Division
Provides airborne assistance through the use of helicopter aircraft
Aviation Unit
Assists in search operations , suspicious package operations and drug confiscations by using specially trained dogs
Canine Unit
Receives and Serves all civil process issued by the courts in this jurisdiction. Monies coming into the jurisdiction for civil process matters are also received and recorded
Civil Process Unit
Community Problem Response Unit
Deploys in the violent crime hot spots, as identified by the Crime Analysis Unit
Registers sexual predators , sexual offenders, career criminal offenders and convicted felons in accordance with legal requirements
Felony Registration Unit
Monitors misdemeanor investigations conducted by the patrol division and coordinates with the State Attorneys Office as needed
Management of Criminal Investigations ( MCI)
Provides high visibility law enforcement presence and enhanced community engagement
Mounted Unit
Ensures registered sexual predators, sexual offenders , and career criminal offenders comply with their probationary conditions and registration requirements. Also notifies the community of any sexual predators living within their area
Offender Tracking Unit
Facilities the process of seeking and executing risk protection orders ( RPO) for JSO .
Risk Protection Unit
Performs specialized traffic enforcement operations designed to reduce traffic fatalities, including DUI investigations and motorcycle officer traffic deployments.
Specialized Traffic Enforcement Unit
Oversees crime prevention programs designed to deter crime through citizen education, safety programs , community partnerships and proactive intervention. Also responsible for the administration of the Police Explorer Program , as well as supervision and training of school crossing guards
Crime Prevention Unit
Serves as a liaison between JSO and the non English speaking community. Also provides bilingual support to community events and investigations
International Affairs Unit
Enriches the lives of children by creating positive relationships between law enforcement and the youth of our community through its education, athletic, teen leadership and out reach programs
Police Athletic League ( PAL)
Handles police services calls via telephone when circumstances do not require an officer to respond in person
Tele Serve Unit
Responsible for managing the police function for pre-planned event in emergency incident as well as overseeing the delivery of law-enforcement services performed in a secondary Capasso he is

Responsible for the management of all sworn axillary law enforcement officers who are volunteer members performing law enforcement duties suitable to their level of training such as Patrol and traffic related functions
Police Auxiliary Section
And I wanna provide incident command structure support for planned events in unplanned Incidents as well as overseas ICS training to JSO members
Emergency Preparedness Unit
Performs ceremonial duties at funerals and other designated events
Honor Guard
Coordinates a delivery of law enforcement services performed by officers in a secondary capacity
Secondary Employment Unit
Overseas law-enforcement activity search as crowd and traffic control for planned event
Special Events Unit
Analyzes data to produce actionable intelligence and provide data related assistance when requested by other JSO units

Overseas referral services for victims and witnesses involved in incidents reported to the law enforcement

Crime Gun Intelligence Center ( CGIC ) Firearms Laboratory Gang Investigations Unit Violent Crime Unit Support and Outreach Liaison
The investigative unit tasked with collecting organizing evaluating and disseminating national integrated ballistic information network ( NIBIN)  leads and another firearms related intelligent
Crime Gun Intelligence Center ( CGIC)
The primary function of the firearms laboratory and supervise NIBIN support to Jacksonville sheriffs office investigation
Firearms Laboratory
Monitors and investigates criminal activity associated with criminal Street games
Gang Unit
Investigate incidents involving non-fatal firearms discharge related incidents 
Violent Crime Unit
Provide direct support to JSO violence reduction strategies by maintaining contact partnering agencies social service providers and community members involved in assisting group members who are interested in getting support
Support and Outreach Liaison
