100 Wash Train Flashcards
What keeps the EDC moving through the wash train?
MPU-101 A/B
What is the purpose of PCV-113?
To regulate pressure on MPU-101 discharge line to prevent wet process from the wash train from backing up into the recovery system.
What is a static mixer?
And in-line device with no moving parts that creates turbulence in the process liquid and causes DW and EDC to mix.
What would the EDC level do in MTK-106 if LCV-121 is stuck closed?
EDC level would fall until tank is mostly water. More ferric would make it to the caustic wash and make rag.
Where does the water in MTK-106 come from?
MTK-107 top. Pumped by MPU-103 A/B.
What is Na1 and where is it used in the 100 area?
Caustic is used in MTK-108 & MTK-109.
What is the purpose of LCV-124?
Regulates the EDC level in MTK-109.
What does interface mean?
The line where water and EDC separate.
How do we control the EDC/water interface levels in the wash tanks?
MTK-106 is controlled by the amount of DW sent through F122. MTK-107 & the caustic wash are controlled by level control valves.
What is the function and purpose of PCV-121?
To hold wash system pressure above reactor system pressure to keep entrained gases in solution.
What prevents bubble formation in the wash tanks?
PCV-121 maintains higher system pressure than the reactor system which keeps entrained gases in solution.
What is formed from ferric chloride in the wash tanks?
Ferric oxide
What is formed from chlorine in the 100 wash system?
HCL & bleach
How is salt formed in the 100 wash
HCL reacts with caustic to form salt & water.
What will be formed if acid water is allowed to enter the caustic wash in the 100 wash train?
Ferric Hydroxide (rag)
