Metaphor
A figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.
Debt
A state of being under obligation to pay or repay someone or something in return for something received.
Acts
Laws created or passed by a government. For example, the Stamp Act was a law that was passed by the British Parliament.
Taxation without representation
Forcing people to pay taxes when they have no say in making the law that created tax.
Protest
Express an objection to what someone has said or done.
Parliament
A council of state in early medieval England. : an assemblage of the nobility, clergy, and commons called together by the British sovereign as the supreme legislative body in the United Kingdom.
Repealed
Revoke or annul (a law or congressional act).
