A

Most reliable form of sterilization
Steam @ 15 psi x 15-45 mins = destroy all ice
Vacuum autoclaves can sterilize in 3 mins

How does heat sterilization work

A

120/250 takes 6 hours
170/360 takes 1 hour
For items injured by moisture or poorly penetrated by steam

How does gas sterilization work

A

Ethylene oxide = 3-6 hours
Used for delicate instruments (scopes)
24 hrs of aeration necessary to let ethylene oxide out because it irritates tissues
