10 Panoramic principles and theory Flashcards
panoramic anatomic accuracy
the relationship between unit’s imaging layer and patient positioning
linear tomography
the source and the film move in a straight line in opposite directions at a constant speed around a stationary patient, everything between source and film will be in the image but only a small distance will be focused
panoramic radiography
modification of linear tomography, source and film rotate using a narrow beam to an image of a curved layer
focal trough
9-11mm wide, corresponds to the location of the teeth in 95% of population
real image
formed when the object is between center of rotation of beam and film
ghost image
formed when the object is between the source and the center of rotation of beam, appear contralateral, superior, blurred and magnified
light lines
incorporated in some units to help position patients
