1.0 - Mobile Devices ALL Flashcards
Two common types of laptop batteries. (1.1)
Lithium-Ion (Li-ion)
Lithium-Ion polymer (LiPo)
Memory hardware that is commonly found in laptops. (1.1)
Small Outline Dual In-Line Memory Module (SO-DIMM)
Three common laptop storage options. (1.1)
1) Magnetic disk (HDD)
2) Solid-state drive (SSD)
3) M.2
Explain a common but time consuming method of migrating from HDD to SSD. Explain why it may not be the ideal method. (1.1)
- Install OS on the SSD
- Move user documents between drives
- Install applications
It requires the installation of an additional operating system which takes a lot of time. Also, the manual moving over user documents and installation of applications is time consuming as well.
Explain a common and less time consuming method of migrating from HDD to SSD. Explain why it may be a more ideal method and what it requires. (1.1)
- Create an image/clone of the HDD
- Move the image/clone to the SDD
It is a more ideal migration method because it does not require the installation of another OS and all documents/applications can be moved at once.
Imaging software is required for this method.

3.5mm TRRS (Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve)
What does the TRRS on a 3.5mm connector do? (1.3)
Separates all of the signals that are involved in listening to audio and outputting (speaking).
What is a port replicator? (1.3)
Similar to a docking station, but it does not commonly have an expansion card option. It connects to a laptop via. USB.
