• Inspect, auscultate, percuss, and palpate.
• Ask patient:
• Ask the patient when was last bowel movement? Ask patient about stool? Any blood? Hard? Soft?

- Educate patient to discontinue docusate if abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting
- Educate pt to take docusate with a full glass of milk or water
- Educate pt to increase fiber, exercise regularly, and drink 6-8 glasses of water daily to help prevent constipation.
- Notify provider if rectal bleeding.
- Warn pt this is used for short term therapy; long term can cause constipation.

- Do not crush time-release tablets.
- Educate pt to take Aspirin with food or after meals, may cause upset if on empty stomach.
- Do not take with other NSAIDS
- Avoid alcohol

- Monitor BP and pulse before and after administration
- continuous ECG and BP monitoring
- Medications: Taking any Viagra? Erectile dysfunction Meds?

- Educate patient on signs and symptoms of adverse effects.
- Change positions slowly to minimize orthostatic hypotension
- Take medication as directed, do not disrupt abruptly.
- Avoid alcohol
- Take medication at first sign of angina attack. WARN: 3 times in 15 minutes, 5 minutes apart.
- Keep med in original bottle

- Instruct pt to take Metoprolol with food at the same time each day. Do not disrupt abruptly. EF tablets do not chew or crush.
- Monitor pulse and BP
- For diabetics, check blood glucose often.
