  • Educate pt to take docusate with a full glass of milk or water
  • Educate pt to increase fiber, exercise regularly, and drink 6-8 glasses of water daily to help prevent constipation.
  • Notify provider if rectal bleeding.
  • Warn pt this is used for short term therapy; long term can cause constipation.
