10. Final Pick Flashcards
Why Cambridge?
(1) Structure of the course
- In segregating Years 1-2 as ‘Core Medical Science and Clinical Medicine’ based on the Faculty of Biology, and teaching through lectures, practical classes and demonstrations, I would be equipped with strong theoretical knowledge to get the most out of my placements in West Suffolk during vacations.
- From experience in my Law degree, learning the theory first and then applying it to practical contexts helps me to explore legal questions from a multi-dimensional perspective, in turn allowing me to make more accurate legal judgements. So to would a strong theoretical understanding help facilitate better and more accurate clinical care.
- This integration of the theoretical and vacation placements would complement both my intellectual and practical side.
(2) Cambridge champions ‘education in a research rich environment’
- Suited to my self-disciplined and inquisitive nature. I’ve selected an optional full dissertation module this year to explore Medical Malpractice in the aftermath of the Dr. Bawa Garba case having been impassioned by Medical Law in second year. This demonstrates my enthusiasm for going above and beyond the scope of my syllabus to maximise the potential of my Law degree.
(3) Cambridge as a city
- I applied to Cambridge as an undergrad, having visited and loved the architecture, the student atmosphere and cycling around the city.
