Verification of Unit Location - A request is made for a unit’s location. The
unit is to acknowledge by giving its present location.

Preliminary /Progress Report - A request by an Officer or dispatcher for a preliminary report by the first arriving unit. The dispatcher shall relay the report to responding units.

Request for assistance + specify location
If possible, advise the dispatcher of the condition and what kinds of assistance is needed.
Additional EMS units are not to respond unless specifically directed to do so by the dispatcher.

Patient is Deceased - No Resuscitation Initiated
A patient who is unresponsive, breathless, and pulseless and did not have cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) provided.
When transmitting the signal 10-83D, indicate with whom the patient will be left
(e.g., 23B, 10-83D left with NYPD).

Patient is Deceased - Resuscitation was Initiated
A patient who is unresponsive, breathless, and pulseless and had cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) terminated at the direction of On-line Medical Control (OLMC).
When transmitting the signal 10-83R, indicate with whom the patient will be left
23B, 10-83R left with NYPD

Cancelled
Indicates that the unit has been canceled by Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) prior to arriving at an assignment, or canceled by a competent
authority (e.g. another unit on the scene).
The unit that is cancelled shall not have had patient contact or initiated patient care.

Indicates that the unit is unable to locate the assignment or patient.

Incident With No EMS Action Required
For use where a valid request for assistance exists but the responding EMS unit is not required to take action constituting a patient contact (e.g., motor vehicle accidents, standbys, multiple casualty incidents, law enforcement and/or fire operations)

EMS Officer Cleared From Assignment
When an EMS Officer is going available from the scene of any assignment and the Officer is not accompanying a unit to the hospital.

Indicates that patient contact has been established, the patient has the decisional capacity to refuse emergency medical treatment and/or
transport, and the patient continues to refuse treatment and/or transport.

Refused Medical Aid Lacking Decisional Capacity
a patient who lacks decisional capacity and the OLMC physician determines that there is a low index of suspicion for requiring treatment and/or transport of the patient and the patient is in, or will be in, a safe environment.

Indicates that more than one unit is involved in the treatment of a patient and the unit is assisting in the transport of the patient to the hospital.

Indicates that upon arrival of the unit the pt had already left the scene by other means.
