1. Superficial Head And Neck Flashcards
Features of vertebrae
Body - weigh bearing
Vertebral arch (2 Pericles, laminae, transverse processes for muscle attachment, articular processes, 1 spinous process - posterior for muscle attachments)
Cervical vertbrea
C1 - atlas - holds up head, no body and no bifold spinous processes
C2 - axis, dens, pivot for the head, nbifid spinous processes
C3-7 - foramen in transverse processes for vertebral artery
Brigid spinous processes C2-C6
Suture joint
Non-synovial with bony interdigitations
found between most skull bones
TMJ
Between temporal bone and mandible - 2 synovial spaces
Has fibrocartilages disc between articular surfaces
Atlanta-occipital joint
Synovial joint with large facets
Allows for “yes” motion
Atlanto-axial joint
Synovial joint that allows for rotation around the dens process of axis
“No” motion
Supported by transverse ligament - anchoring dens in anterior position and cruciate ligament
Intervertebral joints
Type from C2 inferiority
Intervertebral disc- fibrocartilage
Layers of SCALP
Skin
Subcutaneous Connective tissue
Aponuerosis of frontalis muscle
Loose areolar tissue
Periosteum
