1) complaints of the patient
2) specifying the therapeutic objective - if the drug is needed ? or what the patients wants goals are
3) verify the suitability of the chosen p drug - not everyone can be given the first choice drugs
4) prescribing the drug
- how the drug should be taken
how many times per day
for how long should the drug be taken
how should the drug be kept
5) giving information , instructions and warnings to the patient
- maximal dose allowed
when not to take the drug
6) monitoring and stopping the treatment
- if the treatment is effective or not
if treatment not effected diagnosis should be reconsidered swell as the drug / or patient not give the right treatment and has not been compliant
