( BUPA: Private, pay to have treatment)
( Voluntary Charities have to self fund)
What is Primary Care?
The initial, non emergency medical care given to an outpatient.
What is Prejudice?
The preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.
What is Discrimination?
The UNJUST or UNFAIR treatment of DIFFERENT GROUPS of people due to their INDIVIDUAL differences.
Direct Discrimination?
aware of discrimination
Words/Actions that are DELIBERATELY to DISADVANTAGE another individual where people are TREATED DIFFERENTLY or experience a service in an appropriate way.
What is Indirect Discrimination?
Unaware of discrimination
LESS APPARENT, when conditions are IN PLACE that DEMONSTRATE a PREFERENCE for SOME people OVER others.

Give 3 examples of Indirect discrimination
- Not providing leaflets with different languages
- Not making provision for different diet requirements in a residential home
- Normal access to building does not allow a person with a physical disability to enter and no other provision is made
How can prejudices be tackled in society?
- Decide its WRONG
- INTERNALISE NON PREJUDICE BELIEFS
- Try to give prejudice people ADVICE to EXPRESS NON PREJUDICE BELIEFS and less prejudice behaviour.
E.G: staff training to get rid of prejudice thoughts.
