A

1.) Protein ( to detect renal diseases, pre eclampsia etc)

2.) Glucose in the urine ( for diabetes)

3.) Nitrites ( to detect UTI)

4.) Ketones seen in hyperemesis gravidarum due to severe vomiting , forcing the body to break down fats for energy instead of carbs

What do we need to do if the mother is Rh D negative ?

A

If the Mother is Rh D negative then the anti D is given at 28 weeks gestation, also another dose is given after the delivery within 72 hours if the baby is Rh positive to avoid future pregnancy issues

If the mother has active hepatitis B then what do we do?

A

The infant should receive hepatitis B vaccine plus one dose of hepatitis B immunoglobulin within the first 12 hours of life the infant will require additional doses of hepatitis B vaccine at 1 month and six months of age

If mom has inactive then the baby just receives the hepatitis B vaccine
