Ich weiß, dass ich kein normales zehnjähriges Kind bin.
I KNOW I’M not an ordinary ten-year-old kid.
Ich meine, klar, ich mache normale Sachen.
I mean, sure, I do ordinary things.
Ich esse Eis. Ich fahre Fahrrad. Ich spiele Ball.
I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball.
“I have an XBox. ”
Ich habe eine Xbox.
Solche Sachen machen mich normal.
Stuff like that makes me ordinary.
Nehme ich an.
I guess.
Und ich fühl mich normal. Innerlich.
And I feel ordinary. Inside.
Aber ich weiß, dass normale Kinder nicht andere normale Kinder dazu bringen, schreiend vom Spielplatz wegzulaufen.
But I know ordinary kids don’t make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds.
Ich weiß, normale Kinder werden nicht angestarrt, egal, wo sie hingehen.
I know ordinary kids don’t get stared at wherever they go.
Wenn ich eine Wunderlampe finden würde und einen Wunsch frei hätte, würde ich mir wünschen, ein normales Gesicht zu haben, das nie jemandem auffallen würde.
If I found a magic lamp and I could have one wish, I would wish that I had a normal face that no one ever noticed at all.
Ich würde mir wünschen, dass ich die Straße entlanggehen könnte, ohne dass die Leute diese Sache machen, sobald sie mich sehen, dieses Ganz-schnell-woanders-Hinschauen.

Here’s what I think: the only reason I’m not ordinary is that no one else sees me that way.

She can get really annoyed when people do something rude.
Einmal auf dem Spielplatz zum Beispiel, da haben einige ältere Kinder so Geräusche gemacht.
Like, for instance, one time in the playground some older kids made some noises.
Ich weiß nicht mal, was genau das für Geräusche sein sollten, weil ich sie gar nicht selber gehört habe,
I don’t even know what the noises were exactly because I didn’t hear them myself,
aber Via hat sie gehört, und sie hat gleich angefangen, die Kinder anzubrüllen.
but Via heard and she just started yelling at the kids.
So ist sie eben. Ich bin nicht so.
That’s the way she is. I’m not that way.
Für Via bin ich nicht normal.
Via doesn’t see me as ordinary.
Sie behauptet es, aber wenn ich normal wäre, hätte sie nicht so sehr das Gefühl, mich beschützen zu müssen.
She says she does, but if I were ordinary, she wouldn’t feel like she needs to protect me as much.
Und auch Mom und Dad halten mich nicht für normal.
And Mom and Dad don’t see me as ordinary, either.
Sie halten mich für etwas ganz Besonderes.
They see me as extraordinary.
