1 - Nature Of Science Flashcards
What are the 7 steps of the scientific method?
1 - Observation
2 - Form a research question
3 - Form a hypothesis
4 - Perform an experiment
5 - Analyse results
6 - Form a conclusion
7 - Communicate findings or retest
What are the 3 types of variables?
1) Independent - the variable you change
2) Dependent - the variable you measure/record
3) Control - the variables that are kept constant
Primary vs Secondary data?
Primary data is collected by the user, e.g. conducting an interview
Secondary data is collected by someone other than the user, e.g. finding information on the internet
Quantitative vs. Qualitative data?
Quantitative data is numerical data that can be recorded usingg numbers, e.g. the yield of a crop
Qualitative data is data that can be recorded using words, e.g. the colour of leaves
Precision vs. Accurracy?
Precision means that each piece of recorded data is close together.
Accuracy means that each piece of recorded data is close to the true value.
