1. Latin to English ("Assumed vocabulary") Flashcards
This list of 168 common Latin words is that of Gilbert Lawall’s edition of Petronius (selections). Students are advised to memorize all words before reading the Latin text.
Suggestion: as you review these words, many or most of which may familiar, pay attention to the quantities of vowels (important for poetry) and to the grammatical information given for each word, e.g. genitive singulars and genders, and principal parts
Begin with Latin to English. Then move on to English to Latin; total mastery of these words will make the rest of Latin much easier.
