1. Introduction Flashcards

1
Q

What is Mission Performance?

A

Often also referred to as cruise and loiter performance, determines the distance or time for which an aircraft can fly. It primarily considers the impact of aerodynamic efficiency, propulsive efficiency and the amount of fuel or energy available, on an aircraft’s ability to complete a given mission.

Q

What is Point Performance?

A

An aircraft’s ability to maintain level flight or a climb at a given airspeed and altitude. It is determined by the balance between the propulsive forces available to overcome the aerodynamic and inertial forces opposing the aircraft’s motion.

Q

What is Field Performance?

A

The ground distance required for an aircraft to complete a takeoff or landing. It is determined by the minimum speed required for the aircraft to become or remain airborne and its ability to accelerate or decelerate once on the ground.
