This letter is used only for this combination, as it none of the three usual letters «h» (ie. «ህ, ሕ, ኅ») have any way to be read «he» (because their basal form is read «ha» instead). As a rule, the only places where this letter ever occurs are the endings of verbs in «h» that are followed by an object, as in «felleghew» ፈለግኸው, «you looked for him».
