1: FORCES Flashcards

1
Q

contact vs non contact forces and what a force is

A

a force is any push or pull
contact: objects are physically touching eg normal reaction force, friction, air resistance
non contact: not touching, eg electrostatic, magnetism, gravity

Q

spring practical (5)

A
  1. add masses onto spring to change total force
  2. measure extension with ruler at each weight, plot F against E
  3. gradient of graph = spring constant
  4. avoid systematic error by lining up 0cm with bottom of spring
  5. avoid parallax error by being at eye level when measuring
