1. Energy Data & Energy Balance Flashcards
Final energy consumption
(Energy data and energy balance)
FEC = sum (industrial + transport + other sector + non-energy consumption)
TPES
(Energy data and energy balance)
Total production energy supply = TPES = sum(inner production + imports ~ exports - international bunkers + decreased stock changes - increased stock changes)
Statistical difference
TPED - TPES
In reality the difference should be zero, but that never happens in reality
TFS
Total final supply
TFC
Total final consumption
Energy supply mix
Share of each energy product in TPES
Energy product x / Total primary supply
Self-Reliance in supply
Ratio of indigenous production to the TPES of an energy product
Indigenous production of X / Primary supply of X
Share of renewable energy in supply
Renewable product / total primary supply
Efficiency of the electricity generation
Ratio of generated electricity to energy input for electricity generation.
Sum all the primary products of electricity production. Information can be found both in detailed and overall energy balance. Secondary electricity production is found in detailed energy balance
Secondary electricity production / primary energy products for (secondary) electricity production
Power generation mix
Share of each energy product in the generated electricity.
Can be divided in thermal and non-thermal sources.
Generation of product x / total fuel used
Refining efficiency
Ratio of energy output to energy input in refining process. A very efficient process!
The numbers can be find in the detailed energy balance
Oil product / primary oils
Overall energy transformation efficiency
Final consumption / primary energy supply
Per capita consumption of primary energy supply
Primary energy supply / inhabitants
Primary energy products
Available in nature, without experiencing transformation or conversion.
Ex coal, crude, natural gas, solar energy, nuclear energy
Secondary energy products
Obtained from transformation or conversion of primary products
Ex. Oil products, electricity
Commercial Energy Products
They are assigned a price resulting from either regulated or non-regulated mechanisms of regional, national or supranational(överstatlig) character
Non-Commercial Energy Products
Those traditional collected for own consumption
Ex firewood, animal or vegetal waste
Conventional Energy Products
Their use has become generalized, and they are basically employed for electricity production
Ex coal, gas, oil products, large-scale hydropower
Non-conventional energy products
Their use is not yet generalized due to their higher production cost
Ex solar, wind, geothermal, biomass
Energy production sector
Includes
- indigenous production
- imports
- exports
- stock changes
Energy transformation sector
Converts primary energy into secondary energy which is transported to the final consumer
Energy consumption sector
Subdivided into:
- industrial
- transport
- residential
- commercial
- agricultural subsectors
Energy commodity accounts
The other energy balance type and not the preferable one.
Uses the typical physical units of measurement for each flow of energy products.
Ex tones, barrels, m3, Wh
Reference value of good quality oil
1 toe = 11630 kWh
