Q

Distinguish between an ecosystem and a population in the levels of biological organization.

A

A population is a group of species in the same area, populations are part of a community which includes interacting populations within an area, and the ecosystem is made up of the community of interacting populations of organisms and the physical environment they are in.

Q

Describe the biological hierarchy between atoms and cells.

A

Biological organization begins with atoms, the basic units of matter, atoms, combine to form small molecules, which join to form larger molecules called macromolecules within a cell, which is the smallest and most basic unit of life.

16
Q

What is tissue?

A

Tissue is a group of cells with a common structure and function

17
Q

Explain how organ systems are formed in a multicellular organism

A

in Multicellular organisms, similar cells may combine to form a tissue for example, the nerve and muscle tissues of animals tissues make up organs such as the brain or Alise organs work together to form organ systems. For example, the brain works with the spinal cord and a network of nerves to form the nervous system organ systems are joined together to form an organism such as an elephant.

18
Q

What makes up an organ?

A

Tissues, which are made up of similar cells

19
Q

What is energy?

A

The capacity to do work, including the work, it takes to maintain the organization of the cell and the organism

20
Q

What is metabolism?

A

Metabolism, encompasses all the chemical reactions that occur in a cell. For example, when cells use nutrient molecules to make their parts and products they carry out a sequence of chemical reactions.
