Vital signs
regularly monitor vital signs e.g temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation to detect early signs of infection, bleeding or complications
blood work
frequent monitoring of complete blood count (CBC) Liver and kidney function tests and coagulation profiles is important
signs of infection
leukaemia patients those undergoing chemotherapy or bone marrow transplant are at high risk of infection due to low white blood cell counts
bleeding and bruising
watch for signs of bleeding e.g petechiae( small, flat, painless, red or purple spots that appear on the skin) , bruising, hematuria ( blood in urine) bleeding gums because of thrombocytopenia ( low platelet count)
