1. Anatomy Flashcards
What is the purpose of the great cardiac vein?
To receive blood from LV myocardium and IV septum
Describe the location of the Cs Os
Inferior and posterior region of tricuspid valve on RA side.
How does the Cs arise?
Proceeds caudal/posterior and then superior/left lateral around the mitral valve
What are the 3 layers of the arterial wall
Intima - Inner layer of endothelium
Media - Middle and main bulk of wall
Adventicia - Outter, fibrous layer that gives strength
What are the 3 layers of the vein wall
Intima - Inner layer of endothelium
Media - Middle and main bulk of wall
Advexterna - Outter, fibrous layer that gives strength
What do veins have that arteries don’t
Valves to prevent back flow, this is due to lower pressure
Describe the Aorta
Artery that delivers blood from the left ventricle to the systemic circulation, all arteries must branch from this either directly or indirectly
Describe the SVC
Vein that returns blood from the head, neck and upper limbs. Returns to right atrium.
Describe Right Pulmonary Artery
Carries blood to the right lung for exchange of CO2 and O2
Describe Right Pulmonary Veins
Returns oxygenated blood from lungs to LA
Describe Left Atrium
Collects oxygenated blood from the 4 pulmonary veins
What is the significance of the membranous septum?
The location where HIS bundle electrograms are taken
Describe the Fossa Ovalis
Depression used to gain access to Left Atrium. Is patent in Fetal circulation.
