Q

Why is it important to ream and deburr pipes?

A

as the pipe gets cut, the inner portion of the pipe bends inward and or small pieces of the pipe material obstruct flow. This causes turbulence which causes a vortex in the pipe that creates…

1) pinholes over time. these pinholes cause erosion corrosion.
2) disrupted flow, which over a series of joints can reduce flow output at fixture end
3) extra sound from the vibration

debris can also get snagged on unreamed and burred pipe joints.

Q

Difference between compression nut and flare nut?

A

Flare nuts are for hazardous materials or when the connection is exposed to movement or vibration. A flare nut has a stronger mechanical connection and is resistant to leakage during movement or vibration.

Compression nuts strictly compress the connection between the pipe and the o ring.
