1-6 Flashcards
What are the objectives of the Naval Aviation Safety Program
Establish effective, aggressive, and continous accident prevention program
Who will be a central point for all safety related matters or concerns withing a work center?
Safe Petty Office/Safety NCO
Most mishaps blamed on material failure may really involve?
Maintenance factore or human error
What does the improper level of a supervision or a failure of required personnel to meet personnel qualification standards lead to?
Mishaps
What type of eyewear should you wear when sanding fiberglass?(small particles + dust)
Ventilated goggles
What are two types of personal protective equipment that were discussed for body?
- eye/face
- hearing
- body
- head
- respitory
- hand/arm
- foot
When are general purpost gloves required?
Handling rought surfaces or items that post a cut hazard
When noise levels exceed 110 dBA, you should use?
Inserts and sound attenuators
When can you wear an air purifying respirator?
When adequate oxygen is available
How id liquid oxygen(lox) used onboard a ship?
Liquid Fuel rocket motors and for aircrew breathinbg oxygen
If you come in contact with an energized electrical circuit and you are the path of least resistance, electricity will flow through your body resulting in?
Electrocution
What is the function of a shorting bar?
Used to discharge all voltage from de energized equipment
What are 3 things you should be watchful for when working on or near electrical equipment?
Personnel adjusting, troubleshoots, or repairing energized electrical equipment.
- Exposed, energized, electrical circuits
- Open containers of liquid on or near electrical equipment
Why are tag-out procedures used?
To make sure power is secured during maintenance
Which of the following are methods of preventing EMI?
- Grounding
- Bonding
- Shielding
- Filter
What are 3 fundamental forces that control all electrical circuits?
-Voltage
-Current
-Resistance
\
Name the sides of EMI triangle.
Interference Source
Sensitive victim
Coupling path
What are the natural sources of EMI?
- Cosmic/solar/galaxy radiation
- electrostatic discharge
- precipitation static
- lightning
4 methods of EMI and why.
- Grounding: Provide equipment with common potential reference point anywhere in the system, so that no stray voltage exist between and 2 ppoints.
- bonding: make the structure the same with respect to the flow of the radio frequency currents, thus avoiding development of electrical potentials between metallic parts, which can produce interference.
- Shielding:Protect electronic components
- Filter: Accept wanted signals and reject unwanted signals
What are the prime generators of ESD?
- Rolls of plastic tape
- Styrofoam and plastic cups
- Clear bubble wrap
- Clear polyethylene bags(MAF BAGS)
- Common or non conductive plastic tote boxes and storage bins
What is the distance from an electrical storm that shall require termination of ordnance operations?
5 miles
What is the transfer of electrostatic charge between bodies at different electrostatic potentials called?
Electrostatic discharge
How would you identify safe areas for storage and awaiting maintenance areas?
Properly grounded conductive surface
What shuld be kept to a minimum during loading/handling evolutions inbolbing forward firing ordanance?
Work time infront or behind
In ordanance safety, which 3 words have the strength of an order?
- Shall
- Will
- Must
How should you approach potentially hot brakes?
From fore-or-aft position of tire assembly
What should you do if acid or electrolyte from a battery touches your skin or eye?
Flush affected areas with large quantities of water
How can you tell the difference between a lead acid battery and a nickel cadmium batter?
-Lead Acid is pink
nickel is blue
