Q

What is natural selection?

A

Natural selection is where organisms with characteristics that make them better at competing survive and less successful competitors die.

13
Q

What is selective breeding?

A

Only allowing chosen individuals with desired features to breed so their offspring have those features as well e.g. Dogs with large ears would breed with other large eared dogs so their offspring has large ears

14
Q

What is variation?

A

The differences of individuals in the same species or od two different speices e.g. some humans are male, some are female but they are the same speices

16
Q

What is a continuous variation?

A

A feature that can vary over a range of values

17
Q

Is blood type a continuous or discontinuous variation? Why?

A

It is discontinuous because you can only have four blood types (A,B, AB, O) so there isn’t a range of values

18
Q

What does extinct mean?

A

No more of a species are left

19
Q

What is a Gene bank?

A

Gene banks store the genes of different speices

20
Q

How are animal genes stored?

A

The sperm and egg of the species are frozen so they can be stored and may be able to create animal embryos if the animal goes extinct

21
Q

Why do we have gene banks?

A

To be able to store the genes of organisms if they go extinct
