2) Systematic - draws on the entire bible and relates in coherent whole
3) Related to the issues of general culture and learning.
4) Contemporary -sues lang, concepts and through forms that make sense in the context of the present time
5) practical - relates to living rather than merely to belief. - eg encourage easch other with these words 1 Thess. 4:18

A

1) Correct Doctrinal beliefs are essential to the relationship between believer and God
- eg dealing with existence and character
2) Because truth and experience are related
and truth affects experience.
3) Large number of alternatives and challenges exist. - eg humanist- so need to correctly understand the doctrinal doctrines of Christianity

1.) Collection of Biblical Teaching - Exeges and harmonious use of tools and methods .
2) Harmonize or unification of the biblical Materials into a coherent Whole
3) Analysis of the meanings of Biblical Teachings
4) Examine Historical Treatments of the Doctrine
5)Consider other Cultural Perspectives.
6) Identify the Essence (Abiding Truth of the Doctrine) (eg sacrifices)
7)Illumination from Extra-biblical Sources eg using Behavioral science to help identify what is unique among humans to explain image of God in humans
8)Contemporary Expression of the Doctrine
(ie put it in appropriate form
9) Develop central Interpretative Motif
- identify the theme useful to approach it. eg Luther center on salvation by grace through faith

10) Arrange topics in order of importance - Stratification of topics…and subtopics
