1-2) DC-Resistors & Resistance Flashcards

1
Q

What is a resistor?

A

Resistors are electrical devices that manage flow of current through a circuit, creating a voltage drop between two points.

Q

How does a thermistor not obey Ohm’s Law?

A

Thermistors have a lower resistance at higher temperatures. They let more current flow through them at higher temperatures.

Q

How does a diode not obey Ohm’s Law?

A

A diode lets the current flow one way only, in the direction of the arrow. This means that is has a low resistance when the current is flowing in the direction of the arrow, but very high resistance when the current tries to go in the other direction (reverse bias).
