1 Flashcards
DSUL Dump Site Unit Leader
The officer in charge from the third engine will be tasked as the dump site unit leader and will manage the water supply operations until the arrival of an additional command officer or arrival of the command officer from the tanker task force. DSUL reports to water supply group supervisor once established
What is a direct fill scenario?
A nursing operation that provides immediate water to the fireground eliminating the need for portable dump tanks.
FSUL fill sit unit leader
The officer in charge from the fifth engine supervises the activities at the fill site. Fill site reports to the WSGS and is responsible for setting up and maintaining the operations at the fill site.
What is LDH hose?
Supply hose of 4 inch or greater
What is a no hydrant area?
Includes all known locations where hydrants are more than 2000 ft from a given structure.
What is a relay operation?
Generally this procedure uses 3 or fewer engines to supply the attack engine(s) directly from the water source through a supply line that should not exceed 3000 ft from the incident
What is the NOVA recommended for a tanker minimum pump and tank size?
1000gpm pump
2000 gallon water tank
What is the tanker task force consist of?
3 tankers
One engine
One command officer
WSGS water supply group supervisor
The third engine officer working as the DSUL, will be initially responsible for the duties of the WSGS until relieved. The second arriving command officer should be assigned WSGS
What must the DSUL calculate and tell the WSGS?
Calculate the turnaround time and GPM per unit in shuttle and provide total GPM to WSGS
What PPE should personnel at the dump site wear?
Appropriate PPE, including Traffic vest and firefighting helmets
What mode do fill site engines with electronic governor controls need to be in when drafting?
Draft and fill in RPM mode pressure mode can cause damage to the tanks. If in pressure mode and not generating pressure the pump will think it’s cavitating causing the built in safety mechanism to shut down the pump after a short period of time.
Within how many feet of an open water source must personnel wear PFDs?
If working within 10 feet of an open water source
What may the WSGS have to consider for incidents?
The need for more than one fill sit based on this critical information, so it is important to monitor, collect, and transmit this mission-critical information
What is the formula for tanker flow calculations?
Tanker flow= capacity-20% / Round Trip Time
