1 Flashcards
Newton’s First Law of Motion
- An object at rest will stay at rest unless some outside force acts on it
- An object in motion will stay in motion unless an outside force acts on it.
Inertia
An objects desire to remain doing what it is already doing
Force
Simply a push or a pull
Newton’s Second law
Force=Mass x acceleration
Acceleration
- An increase in the rate or speed of something
2. Change in Velocity
Friction
A force that slows down the movement of an object
Newton’s 3rd law
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction
Speed
How fast an object is moving
Potential energy
Stored energy
Has the ability to move or can be moved, but hasn’t yet
Based on an object’s position
Kinetic Energy
Energy of motion
The heavier an object is, the faster it moves and the more kinetic energy it has
Mean
The average of all data points
Example: +++++/6
Median
Data point in the middle when ordered from least to Greatest
When there is an even amount of data points, find the mean of the two in the middle
Mode
The Data value that occurs most often
There can be no mode, more than one mode, or just one
Range
The difference between the lowest and greatest data points
Conclusion
A paragraph stating what you learned from your data collection.
Look for: patterns, outliers, greatest and least data points, what you learned overall.
