Different theorists view the police in different lights
Some see the police as apositiveform of social controland order and others arguing the police are atool of oppression.

This is when police use punishments to reaffirm “right” and “wrong” in society and create clear divide between criminals and civilians

Define them as well
Formal social controlis enforced by specific agencies i.e. The police.Informal social controlis enforcedthrough agencies of socialisation i.e. The family. Crime is managed through both.
