Who is entitled to premium sea pay?
E5—E9 with less than 5 yrs sea duty, officers and E4-E9 upon 37th consecutive month of sea duty.
What is career sea pay?
Special pay authorized for enlisted mbrs in pay grades E1—O6.
When can a mbr receive sea pay?
When permanently or temporarily assigned to a vessel, ship based staff, or ship based aviation.
What vessels are sea pay eligible?
Any vessel 65’ or greater in an active status who’s primary mission in accomplished underway
At what rate is sea pay paid at?
Paid on a 30 day (monthly) basis
Is sea pay taxable?
Yes, for FITW, SITW, and FICA.
How long will sea pay continue when a mbr is hospitalized?
30 days.
How long must a mbr be aboard a sea pay vessel to receive sea time?
First day aboard counts as one days sea time.
How is time spent enroute from one vessel to another treated for sea pay premium?
It is treated as neutral time.
Does time spent traveling from one vessel to another count for sea time or pay?
No.
Is sea pay premium prorated for the month is stops and starts?
Yes.
How is time spent at sea as a Cadet treated
It does not count for anything
What time is treated as neutral time when computing eligibility for cseapay premium?
PT, TT, TD (greater than 30 dys), LV btwn two sea pay units, precomdet, decomdet, ledet/taclet, FTG, HUMS, convalescent lv, UA deductible time, pipeline schools of less than 1 yr (if preparing mbr for further sea duty). G-PMP-2 makes determination of neutral time.
What pay entitlements does a mbr have when going to a unit that will require special skills?
Special Duty Assignment Pay (SDAP).
Is SDAP taxable for FITW, SITW, and FICA?
No, only FITW and SITW.
How is SDAP started?
On the reporting endorsement or a P607.
What jobs qualify for SDAP?
All jobs listed on a alcoast that comes out annually and is effective from 1Oct—30Sep.
What are the different rates of SDAP?
Levels 1—5. (levels payable to each job are listed on an alcoast annually).
What amounts is SDAP payable in?
Maximum of $375.00 and minimum of $75.
What manual would you look in for more info regarding SDAP?
Comdtisnt 1430.1 (Payman).
What is the special SD-6 level?
A special level authorized by FY96 defense spending bill for recruiters only $375 per month.
What is a mbr paid if he/she meets the criteria for two or more SDAP categories?
He/she will be paid for the highest category (can only be paid for one category at a time).
How long can a mbr be TAD performing a mission other than the one he/she is being paid SDAP for before SDAP stops?
90 dys.
For audit purposes, how long is the unit required to keep record documentation for members claiming sea pay?
2 years
